1. Who We Are

BuildLab operates https://buildlabpro.com. Operator: [OWNER TO CONFIRM: legal name]. Privacy enquiries: buildlabcars@gmail.com. We have drafted this policy with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and its Information Privacy Principles in mind.

2. Information We Collect

Account information — name or display name, email address, country and default currency, and sign-in details (email/password or Google sign-in).
Vehicle and build information — cars, engine details, builds, parts, budgets, notes, dyno reports and other content you save.
Uploads and community content — photos, posts, comments, messages, reviews and marketplace listings.
AI inputs and outputs — the build details, questions and images you submit to AI tools and the results generated.
Billing information — plan, status, billing dates and payment-provider references. Card details are handled by Stripe; BuildLab does not store full card numbers.
Marketplace information — where you buy or sell, order, shipping address and related details needed to complete transactions.
Usage and device information — pages visited, features used, approximate location, browser/device type, collected through Google Analytics and our own event logging.
Support communications — messages you send us.

3. How We Use Information

To create and manage your account; provide build planning, AI, parts search, community and marketplace features; process subscriptions and payments; send service emails (such as trial confirmations and account emails); provide support and resolve disputes; protect security and prevent abuse; analyse and improve BuildLab; and meet legal obligations.

4. Service Providers

We share information only as needed with providers that help run BuildLab:

Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing.
Google — Google Analytics (website analytics) and Google sign-in, if you use it.
Lovable / Lovable Cloud — hosting, database, authentication, file storage and email delivery.
AI model providers (accessed via Lovable's AI gateway, including OpenAI and Google models) — to generate AI results.
Web search and product-data providers — parts searches send vehicle and part search terms (not your account details).

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information where required by law. Each provider's own privacy policy explains how it handles data.

5. AI Processing

When you use AI tools, the information you submit (for example vehicle, engine, parts and your questions or photos) is sent to third-party AI providers to generate a result. Please don't include passwords, payment details or unnecessary sensitive personal information in AI prompts. 6. Cookies and Analytics

BuildLab uses essential storage to keep you signed in, and Google Analytics cookies to understand how the site is used. BuildLab does not currently show one.] You can block or delete cookies in your browser or use Google's Analytics opt-out add-on.

7. Storage, Retention and Security

Information is stored with our infrastructure providers, which may be located outside New Zealand. We use access controls, row-level database security and encrypted connections, but no system is completely secure. We keep information while your account is active and as needed for the purposes above, legal obligations, dispute resolution and fraud prevention. [OWNER TO CONFIRM: specific retention periods.]

8. International Transfers

Our providers may process information in other countries, including the United States. Where required, we rely on the providers' contractual and security safeguards. [OWNER TO CONFIRM: specific data locations.]

9. Your Rights

You can view and update much of your information in your profile. You can ask us to access or correct your personal information, or request deletion of your account, by emailing buildlabcars@gmail.com from your account email. Self-service account deletion is not currently available. Some information (for example billing and transaction records) may need to be retained where legally required or for legitimate operational purposes. You can also complain to the New Zealand Office of the Privacy Commissioner, or your local privacy regulator.

10. Public Content

Builds, posts, photos and listings you choose to make public can be seen by other users and visitors. Private builds are not shown publicly.

11. Children

12. Changes

The current version and its date are shown here. We will notify you of material changes where appropriate.
